Our staff make a difference

All Camp Kids Are Kids Chicago staff share a commitment to the well-being and happiness of our campers. Each year we seek individuals who can be a positive role model for our campers. Being a Camp Kids Are Kids Chicago volunteer can be a life changing experience not just for our campers but for the volunteers who help children touched by cancer to just be kids again for a week.

A good portion of our volunteers return to camp each year. We’re always on the lookout for more camp staff (volunteer counselors, activity leaders, doctors and nurses). No position at Camp Kids Are Kids Chicago is guaranteed. All volunteers, new and returning, must complete their application in full.

New applicants that meet our requirements will be contacted for a group interview. We will notify you of your status within one week from the time of the interview.

All applicants must be available for both the mandatory camp staff training, the weekend before camp, and the camp week.

If you have questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call at (312) 912-5308 or email us at info@campkidsarekids.org. We’ll be happy to answer any questions.

Positions

Cabin Counselor: Counselors are with the campers essentially 24/7. Counselors are housed with the campers and responsible to provide leadership and guidance to them, all while having lots of fun and, dare we say, be a little bit goofy.

Medical: Must be licensed Nurse or Physician in the State of Illinois. Doctors, nurses & EMTs can all play a part in overseeing the medical care of both our campers and our staff.

Program Area Director: Work throughout the year planning all the fun and magic that happens the week at camp! These require you to work in conjunction with the Camp Director to develop your specific program, order supplies, and work with your other volunteers to set up and run each of your camper sessions. Most program areas take place at least three times a day.

Program Area Volunteers: Positions in the program areas are available on both a full and part-time basis. Work side by side with your director in making the magic happen at camp. You’ll be guiding and encouraging the campers to be actively engaged and completing the activities throughout the day.

Photographers & Videographers: From breakfast time to the end of the evening’s event there are always great moments to capture. You'll work with our staff to coordinate daily postings to our social media pages and oversee the compilation of the week’s images and video into our end of week multi-media presentation to share with everyone.

Support Staff: If you are a go with the flow and flexible kind of volunteer we need you! You might be asked to help the counselors the program area staff or work with our special visitors.
